Oracle PL/SQL Database Developer

The PostgreSQL Database Developer will provide sustainment support for a newly established PostgreSQL database operating on AWS Relational Database Services (RDS). The database developer also needs to be able to update tables and ETL processes to support maturing the database as greater functionality is incorporated into the application. The developer will receive guidance from a senior developer on the NDi team but needs to have the pre-requisite skills to actively interact with the customer. Typically, the candidate filling this role will provide project status and technical options to the customer’s project managers and senior developers. The optimal candidate will be a solutions-driven designer and developer with a solid track record of supporting the highly complex software and database development projects. The person must also be able to produce technical documentation in support of the program. This position will support a federal government agency’s Enterprise Database Repository.
Duties and Responsibilities
Analyze business requirements, propose, design, and implement technical solutions. Create ETL procedures to load the data with Oracle or PostgreSQL, PL/SQL programs. Migrate data from systems such as SharePoint to a new system. Provide production support for existing systems, troubleshoot data and/or system issues. Identify root causes and resolve data related issues. Review and optimize query performance.
Experience and Skills
A minimum of five to eight years of technical experience.
Working knowledge of PostgreSQL not required, but nice to have.
In-depth knowledge of PL/PostgreSQL and SQL including stored procedures, functions, triggers, and views are required.
Experience with Python script development.
Experience of Amazon Relational Database Services (RDS) or Amazon Web Services is preferred. Experience with performance tuning, database administration and monitoring.
Familiarity with JIRA.
Excellent communication skills. Must be able to analyze a situation, develop options, and provide clear guidance to team members.
Experience working at FAA as consultant.
This position requires a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or a related study. Engineering, Math and Science degrees are also acceptable. Additional years of experience beyond what is required for the position may substitute for degree.
Certification for PostgreSQL v9.3, a plus.
Must be able to obtain a Public Trust Clearance
